It became known as the Chalmers Mansion. With a then a population of 3000 people, Silver Mountain City was the county seat of Alpine County from 1864-1875. Portions of the city jail still stand at the historical site located near the Mansion, off of Highway 4. Although currently uninhabitable, this home has tons of potential! There is no well on the property, but in the past, the current owner has utilized gravity flow water from a spring that is located above the property which they have water rights to.
